Hello everyone, I hope you’re well. Today I wanted to sit down and write a post about productivity. I won’t sit here and claim to always have a productive day – after all I’m only human, and it’s totally ok to give yourself a break when you need it. However, I love achieving my goals and the feeling of having a productive day, so I wanted to share my top tips on how to start your day off right and have a productive morning.
Wake up at the same time every day – Making the effort to wake up at the same time everyday is something that really helps me stick to a routine, and get into work-mode. I don’t like to oversleep through the week, it leaves me feeling sluggish, and puts my routine off making me more unproductive. I usually go to the gym in the morning, which gives me a reason to set my alarm for the same time everyday, and starting my day with exercise makes me feel energised and ready to take on the day.
Prepare your outfit the night before – Planning my outfit, and getting myself ready are two things that set me into work mode, and set the tone for a productive day. I like to plan my outfit the night before, so that when it comes to getting ready in the morning there’s no wasting time deciding what to wear, frantically trying on outfits. If I have my outfit out and ready I can just throw on my clothes and get on with my day.
Get yourself properly ready – Even if I’m not leaving the house and at working from home for the day, getting myself properly ready in the morning helps me get into work mode. Physically putting myself together makes me feel ready for the day, and less likely to want to flop back on the sofa. Not all days are makeup days for me, but putting together an outfit and doing my hair makes me feel put together.
Breakfast – Eating breakfast is key for starting my day out right. I’m never the type to skip breakfast, not only because I’m always hungry in the morning, but because I make it part of my routine. I enjoy the time in the morning where I eat, have a cup of tea, and either watch the news or listen to podcast before my day begins. I try to avoid sifting through social media while I’m having my breakfast, which is why I tend to opt for the news or a podcast to just have on in the background.
To do lists & time plans – I always like to make a to do list of everything I want to achieve in a day, even the mundane tasks. Making a list of what I aim to achieve really helps me manage my day, and means I can prioritise which tasks to tackle first. This is where a time plan is really useful – when I’m busier I like to extent my to do list and add in how long each task will take, to keep me on track, and make a list of tasks seem a lot more manageable.
