How To Get Your Home Spring Ready

Ah, isn’t Spring just the best season? I know it is in my opinion. Longer and brighter evenings, sunshine, flowers blooming – the list goes on. One thing I find myself having the the motivation for, and enjoy doing when spring comes round, is sort out the house. Here’s the things I love to do to get my home ‘Spring Ready’.

Clear out my wardrobe

Having a good wardrobe clear out is one of those tasks I put off and dread, but once I’ve done it I feel loads better. Every spring I like to swap around my Autumn/Winter and Spring/Summer clothes – put away all of those thick jumpers and coats, and bring out the denim jackets, blouses and skirts. I also use the opportunity to get rid of anything I no longer need or no longer fits. I don’t find it the easiest to say good bye to clothes – but I’m getting better with age. As a rule, I think to myself – if I haven’t worn it in the past 6-12 months then there’s a good chance I won’t.

Spring Clean the House

I must admit that I do enjoy cleaning and looking after the house – not only do I find it stress-reliving, but it’s a lovely feeling when you’re in an organised and tidy space. However, there are of course the dreaded tasks that I don’t do as often as I probably should (we’re only human, and there’s only so many hours in the day, right?). Anyway, the concept of the ‘Spring Clean’ is the perfect opportunity and motivator to do those bigger and less frequent cleaning tasks.

Change to White Sheets

When it comes to the spring and summer months, a small change I like to make in the bedroom is to change to white sheets. For me it makes a huge difference in creating a bright, airy and calming space.

Add Flowers

I love to have a bunch of flowers in the kitchen as often as I can through the spring and summer months – it’s a small ritual I’ve come to love. When you can get a bunch of daffodils at the supermarket for £1 or less, how can I resist?

What do you do to make your home feel spring ready?
